Hello there literate roleplayers. Are you tired of bland Light vs. Dark plots, equine RPGs that all seem the same, and plots that don't affect your character?
Well we've got a surprise for you. At The Secret it's not just about good and evil. In fact, good and evil don't have a lot to do with things. No matter whose side you're on, you can be as nice or as cruel as you see fit. But if you live in the north you'd better be tough if you want to stay alive. Here's a summary of what kinds of characters you can make:
Southern equines: The Resistance. You like freedom and would rather be left to your own devices. Conquering is not really your thing, you just want to be left alone to start a herd. Weakland equines: The Captives. You keep your head down and hope you don't get beaten up too often. You dream of escaping to the south, but know you'll be killed for trying. Mostly mares live here, though there is a small number of stallions. They usually get beaten down the most so they can't rebel. Northern equines: Tartarus's Legions. You work for the mastermind, Tartarus, the one who blew the news about the object of power out into the open. You answer to his captain Atlas, and you spend your time fighting, bullying mares in the Weaklands, and training colts for the army. If you have any spare time you can gather a small herd. Haven of Hesperides: The Secret Keepers. You know not hate nor greed, and you live within the walls of the Haven. You may leave to explore, but other equines seem so different to you. You live in peace and philosophy, seeking knowledge and enlightenment. But you know what is brewing, and the battle will come to your doorstep even though they cannot break down the door.

What's going on... ?
There was peace once, though by now it is but a distant memory in the minds of those old enough to remember. There was order and cohesion, and nothing to fear. The Keepers of Hesperides stayed within their walled Haven, and none disrupted their peace. There was always a rumor that an object of unspeakable power lay hidden within those great walls, but in time the rumor grew dull with age. But now a young stallion, maddened with greed, is gathering all the information he can about this mysterious object of celestial power. Flanked by the powerful drafts of the northern lands, he is murdering and taking prisoners left and right. There is only a handful of southern herds that stand against him, led by the mysterious Theseus. If they are vanquished, the Keepers will be on their own. Chaos and uncertainty abound. How much longer can the forces of reason hold off this madman?
The board is set, the pieces are in play. Whose side will you join?

She smiled. T'was, she supposed, an appropriate name for the day. Orbs glowed, finding the curiosity in his, and decidiing to confide in him. The power of a name could be great, yet, he had been bold enough to reveal his. Besides, he had welcomed her onto his land.
I am Aoife,(Efa), the words escaped 'er maw, Pleased to meet you, Risk.

-Nora-
The shadows dance eerily on the soft earth. The diamonds painted on the clear, dark sky where about the only thing that could keep one from getting lost. All was silent. A mysterious kind of silent. The type of silent where the only sound was the breeze ruffling through dense foliage. T'was a chilly night. Particles of frost were accumulating on the skinny branches of a dogwood tree. The once beautiful blossoms, that had started to bloom only a fortnight back, were falling ever so slowly to the earth, covering the rich grasses with a sea of pearl-white petals. The weather had been toying with the creatures of the land. For days the sun had been out with full power, allowing life to flourish, but now a cold front seemed to be moving in. Winter was finally coming out of summer's shadow. Nasty clouds were starting to roll in, covering the glorious constellations of O'Rion's belt and Sagittarius. Capricorn and Taurus seemed to disappear in the blink of an eye. The shadows disappeared. A temperature drop was in effect. A rumble erupted from the heavens, threatening to dress the land in either a blanket of white, or a puddle of water. All was dark. All was silent. No moon shined through the darkness. -- The percheron femorra prodded through the dark forest outlining the canyon. 'er massive bod' maneuvered easily through the spaced out forest of thin, frost encrusted branches. Winter fuzz covered dark mahogany dapples that spotted 'er ebony hide. Long curly tassels lashed 'er full dark orbs, banner thrashing 'er powerful haunches. Large onyx hooves cushioned the sandy sod, as the matured fae pulled to a halt. They called 'er Lazy Nora. The 'lazy' part was what others that knew added on to 'er name. The name didn't bug 'er much, but could get a tad irritating at times. Nor was a lonely mare. One with no friends, no home, no mate. There was a simple way to answer this problem however, visit the terra set aside for the maidens. Though it was an ignorant thing to venture to such a place during the night, Nora took the chance. She always liked a little trouble.
Without exactly thinking it, Nor lifted 'er dial into the atmosphere, letting 'er nares savor the unfamiliar scents that the gale had just brought to 'er. The scents of both pure hearted, and cold hearted stags battled for her attention. Being a curious one, Nora decided that it might be entertaining to see which brutes might risk themselves to find her. -- Though Nora was curious and anxious, she was still 'er lazy self. She decided to keep at an easy going pace. "You never know when your gonna need your energy," was what Nora always said, in the slight accent she possessed. -- 'er long auds started to quiver in many directions as the invisible waves came to them. Excitement was building up in the bulky filly. 'er strong pillars extended, making 'er pace a bit more like a real trot, following a worn trail along the gurgleing river. Nor continued to follow the narrow path, until it let out in to a spooky clearing. Insane questions seemed to pop into 'er head, though she silently chuckled at how insane 'er thoughts could be. Nor took a deep breath and summoned her chambers to rumble, letting a long call peirce the silence of the night. The call echoed through the lands, letting any one, light or dark, that she was there.

Risk smiled, his deep, kind voice echoed slightly in the cave. My pleasure. he said. He, too, shook himself, spraying water droplets on the cave walls. He inhaled deeply, I am Risk, dear lady. he bowed. His still-wet tassels sparkled and moved with him. He questioned her with his eyes as he arose, wondering what this beautiful faes name was.

Behind him, she moved into a pace of canter, throwing herself through the winds and into the small cave-like place. As she stepped into the small shelter, she shook like a dog, fur sticking out in all directions. Damp tassel strayed from her pelt as she shook, soon settling back into their places. Faint words of gratefullness escaped her kissers.
